In addition to conventional dynamic light scattering (DLS), the system also offers the option of measuring depolarized dynamic light scattering (DDLS) or static light scattering (SLS).
Overview of functions
- Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS):
- Enables precise determination of particle sizes (hydrodynamic radius) and size distributions by measuring the translational diffusion coefficient.
- Depolarized DLS (DDLS):
- The depolarized DLS option. While standard DLS is ideal for spherical particles, the DDLS technique allows us to measure the rotational diffusion coefficient and thus characterize anisotropic (non-spherical) particles such as rods, ellipsoids, etc.
- Static Light Scattering (SLS):
- This method allows, among other things, the measurement of the gyration radius and the second virial coefficient by recording the angular distribution of the scattered light.
